About Davie

Davie’s Florida town is located in just 9 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Broward County and about 25 miles north of Miami. Bordered by the Florida Everglades to the west, Davie is ideally located among major thoroughfares such as Interstates I-595, I-75, and I 95, and is minutes away from the Ft. Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport. The neighboring municipality of Cooper City of the town lies just 3 miles to the west of Davie.

Named after developer Randolph P. Davie, the town was originally carved out of Everglades land. Davie is home to campuses of a great number of educational institutions, including the Central Campus of Broward Community College as well as the Davie Campus of the University of Florida. Davie is also house to Nova Southeastern University. Film fans may acknowledge Davie as the house of Rolling Hills Golf Course, the filming locale of the timeless hit “Caddyshack”.

Davie is home to Flamingo Gardens, a 60-acre site. The town is also house to the Young At Art Children’s Museum, a hands-on cultural and informative arts place where kids can express their imagination in a fun and exciting environment. Also in town is the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds. Found in the historical western-themed district of downtown Davie, this attraction has long served as the chief tourist draw in Davie. The indoor/outdoor facility was initially established as a rodeo arena, but afterwards enlarged to meet the need for more varied events such as top name concert entertainers, circuses, monster trucks, horse shows, dog shows, car shows, air boat shows, and industrial shows.

Davie is in addition the host site of numerous yearly events, a few of which are recorded below:

The Orange Flower Festival, Rodeo and Parade (February): A two-day festival including a fine arts show, an arts and crafts fair, a heritage parade, a classic stage coach and wagon display, a livestock fair, a cook off, a state barbecue, live country entertainment, and constant professional rodeo. Diversity Festival (April): Features a great number of food samplings from all over the world. Independence Day Family Splash, Fireworks and Crafts: A Fourth-of-July occasion which includes a petting farm, family entertainment, bounce houses, climbing walls, and a huge fireworks show. Located only thirty minutes away is the city of Miami, house of the following major league pro sports teams:
